How to prepare for PDE exams

Confirm your eligibility

The PDE candidate should first confirm whether he/she is eligible to write the PDE exam by checking the following:

a) Current Full Status or Principal Property Practitioners who haven't passed the PDE exams yet will be eligible to write the PDE exam, as long as they are currently registered with the PPRA and are not disqualified or blocked.

b) (i) Candidate Property Practitioners (previously referred to as Intern Estate Agents) should have the following in place:

The 12-month Internship period should be completed.
The Intern Logbook should be complete, submitted, and being found competent by the PPRA. This will be indicated by a letter sent from the PPRA to the candidate, and the qualification status will be ticked green next to 1 Year Internship on MYEAAB.
The Candidate Property Practitioner should have obtained the FETC Real Estate NQF4 qualification certificate, or External Verification Confirmation letter from their service provider with a Services Seta LA number to confirm this. This should be updated on MYEAAB and indicated with a green tick under Qualification Status on MYEAAB.

b (ii) Principal Property Practitioners who have been registered as Principal for 2 years or longer should be in possession of all the above, PLUS should have obtained the NC Real Estate NQF5 qualification certificate, or External Verification Confirmation letter from their service provider with a Services Seta LA number to confirm this

To request your certificate, please visit https://app.compliancerealtor.com/courses?tab=Certificates and complete the form with your details. Your request will then be reviewed by a member of our team and approved or declined based on whether the request is valid or not.

Download your certificate

If your certificate is approved, it will automatically be sent to the email address provided with the request. If you haven't received it, or would like to download previous certificates, you can download them from our database.

How to update your status at the PPRA once you've received your LA letter

The next step is to upgrade your status with the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA). This article will guide you through the process of updating your NQF4 status at the PPRA.

Instructions

1. Obtain your LA Letter or SETA Certificate: After being found competent in the NQF4 assessment, you'll receive an LA Letter from your training provider confirming external moderation. This letter will include an LA number, which is essential for the upgrading process. Alternatively, you may receive a certificate from the Sector Education and Training Authority (SETA) that confirms your competence in NQF4.

2. Visit the PPRA website: Access the PPRA website at [PPRA website URL]. The PPRA, formerly known as the Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB), is the authority responsible for regulating property practitioners in South Africa.

3. Log in to MYPPRA: Navigate to the MYPPRA portal on the PPRA website and log in using your credentials. If you don't have an account yet, you'll need to create one before proceeding.

4. Submit your documentation: Once logged in, create a new query requesting an NQF4 status update. Attach your LA Letter or SETA Certificate as supporting documentation.

5. Await PPRA confirmation: The PPRA will review your documentation and update your status accordingly. This process may take up to 30 days.

The learner will now have access and opportunity to do self-study, research, and complete the P.O.E

What timelines to expect for your NQF4 assessment

This helpdesk article provides an overview of the timelines expected when we assess an NQF4 portfolio.

Expected Timelines

As soon as your portfolio gets delivered to our offices, we capture it in our database, scan it, and upload it. From then, the following timelines apply.

Pricing Structure

Our consultation pricing policy applies unless otherwise specified.

Consultations are billed in 15 minute intervals, at R300.00 per 15 minute interval.

This means if you schedule a consultation and only use 5 minutes of the booked time, you will still be charged for the full 15 minutes at R300.00.

Cancellation Policy

Please ensure you cancel at least 12 hours before the booking. Bookings cancelled less than 12 hours before the booked time will be billed at 50% of the total booked time.
